Before the clarification of Glaw et al. 2025, I identified the distinction between these two forms already, just vice versa, as I did not examine the type of C. gallus: the true C. gallus has a serrated upper margin of the rostral protuberance, while C. pinocchio, which is much more frequently photographed, though it was cryptic, has it smooth...
