Chameleon Day – 9.5.2026

09/05/2026

From the forests and ridges of Madagascar, chameleons enrich the world with their shifting colors, their mystical presence, and the silent lessons they give to herpetoculture, science, and herping. They show us patience, precision, and resilience. They guard the balance of nature. For this, we owe them not only admiration but protection — a debt we must repay.

Project 1: Ranomafana Rescue

• Manual removal of invasive Desmodium from chameleon habitats

• Rental of 1 hectare near Ranomafana for a rescue center

• Monthly wage and materials for worker and guardian

➡️ $200 per month required

Project 2: Belalanda Critical Habitat

• Purchase of 2 hectares in the natural occurrence zone

• Fencing and defense against cats, dogs, birds, and human disturbance

• Monthly wage and materials for guardian

➡️ $10,000 investment + $200 per month

Both projects are supervised and coordinated with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Madagasxar.

This is urgent. Without intervention, species vanish. With small contributions — $5–20 per month — we can secure Ranomafana, save the critically endangered Belalanda chameleon, and protect Madagascar's living heritage.

Chameleons have given us knowledge, wonder, and inspiration. On Chameleon Day, let us give back. Support, share, and stand with us.
