Crest in the Cloud Forest: Trioceros feae

Trioceros feae is an insular chameleon restricted to Bioko, an island called also Fenrando Poo belonging to Equatorial Guinea.
It inhabits humid montane and submontane forests, moving through moss‑laden branches and dense understory where its muted coloration provides strong concealment.
Males show slightly more pronounced cranial ornamentation, while females remain smaller and more cryptic.
Though locally not uncommon, its habitat is so difficult and rarely accessible that Trioceros feae remains one of the least known and least portrayed chameleons in the world.
Reproduction is oviparous, with small clutches deposited in moist soil.
Habitat alteration on Bioko continues to pose the primary conservation concern for this discreet and localized species.
