Incredible Furcifer antimena in the SW Madagascar dry forest
07/05/2026
Furcifer antimena is a medium‑sized chameleon endemic to the spiny thickets and dry deciduous forests of southwestern Madagascar, distinguished by its raised casque, rostral appendage, and pronounced sexual dimorphism.
By day it exhibits cryptic brownish‑green banding for camouflage, while at night its coloration shifts to pale, shimmering tones.
Its restricted range and adaptation to xeric habitats make it highly vulnerable, and it is currently listed as Endangered under IUCN and regulated in CITES Appendix II.
