Norbertine Bresslern-Roth - Chameleons (circa 1930) - 17" x 22" Fine Art Print

Norbertine Bresslern-Roth (1891–1978) was an Austrian painter and printmaker renowned for her vivid animal imagery. She was one of the first women admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and became especially known for her linocuts and woodcuts. Her work often depicted exotic and wild animals with striking realism and emotional depth. She was a pioneer in color printmaking and is considered one of the most important animal artists of the early 20th century.

The artwork in question—"Chameleons" (circa 1930)—is a color linoleum cut on Japan paper, measuring approximately 186 × 160 mm (7 3/8 × 6 1/4 inches). It was signed and inscribed "Handdruck" in pencil, indicating it was hand-printed. This piece has appeared in reputable auctions, including Swann Galleries in New York, where it sold for $1,625 in 2020. The print is celebrated for its vibrant colors and intimate portrayal of chameleons, reflecting Bresslern-Roth's fascination with exotic fauna and her technical mastery of linocut printing.

The version listed on eBay is a 17" × 22" fine art reproduction, not an original. It's offered as an archival-quality print, suitable for framing, but it does not carry the value or authenticity of the original hand-printed linocut.
