Trioceros cristatus is a middle-sized, forest‑dwelling chameleon from West and Central Africa, known for the raised dorsal crest that gives the species its name.

It inhabits humid lowland and mid‑elevation forests, moving slowly through dense understory vegetation where its mottled green‑brown coloration provides strong concealment.

The species shows marked sexual dimorphism: males possess a taller casque and more pronounced dorsal crest, while females are more cryptic.

Habitat loss remains its primary threat.
