Chamaeleo necasi: a Western African Member of C. dilepis Group

Chamaeleo necasi is a medium‑sized West African chameleon of the Chamaeleo dilepis group, documented from southern Togo and adjacent Benin. It is associated with lowland forest and ecotonal woodland below roughly 500 m, though detailed microhabitat information has not been published. The species is oviparous. Its recognition is based on regional surveys of West African chameleons; no full morphological diagnosis or morphometric dataset has been released. Conservation status is Data Deficient under IUCN criteria. The specific epithet honours Petr Nečas.
