Furcifer oustaleti in the Morondava region shows marked phenotypic variability, far exceeding what is typically reported for the species elsewhere in western Madagascar. Individuals range from uniform sandy brown to saturated green, with males displaying a distinct purple interstitial gular skin visible when the throat expands during display. This purple pigmentation appears sporadically across the population and does not correlate with age but male sex. Females show yellowish tone of the gular interstitial skin.
